Testimonials

"I wanted to be there to take my kids to school and pick them up so becoming a bus driver was the best of both worlds. Where else can you find a job that works around your kids going to school? Even if you don’t have kids at home, it is still a great job for someone who wants to be more involved in the community." ~ Nakia

Each school year our Driver Trainer Coordinator (DTC) contacts each elementary school to which we deliver students, to schedule the Bus Evacuation Program for the fall session. The DTC makes note of the main contact name so in the event of a cancellation it is known with whom the DTC needs to communicate. Once the schedule has been determined, the DTC notifies KBL’s Human Resources Manager as well as the Service Department of the upcoming appointments so everyone knows not only where the DTC is, but where the equipment is also.

On the day of the Bus Evacuation Program the Driver Trainer Coordinator along with an assistant, attend the designated school and discuss the importance of a proper Bus Evacuation and pertinent School Bus Safety topics.

Along with completing a full program in the fall of each school year, KBL also ensures that the students receive a refresher course each spring. The DTC and the assistant attend the same schools, after securing appointments, and repeat the physical evacuations. The students are given the opportunity to ask additional questions to ensure they understand the importance of a safe evacuation. Giving the students the same, pertinent information for bus safety year after year allows for better knowledge retention and a higher possibility that the students will remember the information in the event of a real emergency.
