KBL participates in the First Rider program which is designed for students who will be riding the bus for the first time (ie Junior Kindergarten or Senior Kindergarten students who are bus eligible). This program is facilitated in several locations throughout Bruce and Grey Counties in order to accommodate each geographical area. The First Rider program is held just prior to the commencement of the school year and allows parents to accompany their young children on the bus. This allows the students to experience the new environment with whom they feel comfortable.

Parent Responsibilities:

Parents are responsible for their children before they get on the bus and after they get off the bus. Safety is our shared commitment. It is recommended that all kindergarten, special needs and grade 1 students should be met at the bus stop by a responsible person(either by an adult or older student).

Seat Belts, Car Seats, Safety Vests:

When a student is using specialized seating, parents and bus drivers are collectively responsible for ensuring that each student is secured before the vehicle goes into motion.

Inclement Weather

* Bus cancellations and school closures are announced on many local radio stations 

* Your bus operator should call if the bus will be more than 15-20 minutes late

* Note: If the morning bus routes were cancelled buses do not operate in the afternoon
